Binh & Lin
A husband and wife, and three good reasons.
We are Binh and Lin. We run T3 Portraits together out of a studio in Epping, and we are parents of three — which is the only qualification on this page that has ever calmed a room down at 4pm on a Saturday.

Why the studio exists
Thousands of photos. Nothing on the wall.
That is the whole reason T3 Portraits exists, and it started with our own house.
Every family we meet is carrying an enormous archive. Tens of thousands of frames on a phone, a laptop, a drive in a drawer, a cloud account somebody is paying for and nobody opens. And then you walk into the hallway and there is nothing. Or there is one photo, from a wedding, from before the children existed.
We did not want to add to the pile. So we built the studio backwards from the finish: a framed portrait, on a wall, in a room you use every day. Everything upstream of that — the planning call, the styling, the pace of the session, the reveal where you see your images at real size — is designed to get you there rather than to hand you a folder and wish you luck.
The other half of it is temperament. Most of the adults who sit for us open with some version of “I’m terrible in photos.” Usually it is the mother, who has spent five years taking every picture and appearing in none of them. We built a slow, unhurried, heavily directed session precisely for that person. You are not expected to know what to do with your hands. That is our job.

The two of us
You will meet both of us.
There is no roster of shooters here and no one you have never spoken to turning up on the day. It is Binh and Lin, and between us we have done this enough times to know what your afternoon is going to look like.

Binh
Behind the camera, and behind the print
Binh photographs and directs, and carries the print side of the studio — sizing, framing, the decision about whether an image belongs at 20×24in or has to be 40×50in to work in the room you have. He is the one who will tell you a photograph you love is too small for the wall you love, because he would rather you hung one piece properly than filed twenty away.

Lin
The reason the room stays calm
Lin photographs and runs the room — the wrapping and settling of newborns, the wardrobe conversation before the day, and the running negotiation with a three-year-old who has decided today is not the day. She is usually the one holding the baby while Binh is metering. Lin and Binh are married and have three children of their own, and the studio is print-first because of what they kept seeing: families carrying thousands of photographs around with them and hanging none of them.

The credential that counts
We have three of our own. Nothing surprises us.
Parents apologise to us constantly. For the toddler who will not stand still, for the baby who fed for forty minutes, for the eight-year-old doing the fake smile, for arriving late because someone was sick in the car.
None of it needs an apology. We have three children. We have had the car incident. We know that a two-year-old who is refusing everything at 10am is frequently delightful at 10:25, and that the way to get there is to stop asking and let them run around the studio for a bit.
This is also why the session is booked at up to ninety minutes rather than thirty, and why newborn sittings often run two to three hours. The time is not there because the photography takes that long. It is there so nobody in the room, including you, is being rushed.
If your child does not co-operate, you have not wasted the session. That is a normal Tuesday.
What we believe
Six things we will not budge on.
A photograph you cannot see is not a photograph
A file is a promise to look at something later. A print is the thing itself. We are print-first and we do not pretend to be neutral about it.
The mother belongs in the frame
She is missing from almost every family archive we are shown. If you are the one who always takes the photo, this session is largely for you.
Children do not have to behave
We are not photographing compliance. Some of the best frames we take are of a child who was, at that exact second, refusing to co-operate.
Nobody should be rushed
Feeds, nappies, meltdowns, a change of mind about the outfit. The session is built long enough to absorb all of it without anyone watching a clock.
You should never be guessing about money
The session fee is $395. Most families invest $1,800–$4,500 all in. There is no minimum spend, and we will not spring anything on you at the reveal.
“I hate having my photo taken” is a brief, not a problem
It tells us to direct more, talk more, and never once say “just be natural”. Most people who say it end up buying the biggest piece.

The studio
Epping, Sydney. By appointment only.
We are open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and we only ever have one family in at a time. There is no waiting room and no overlap with the booking before yours.
The studio is heated — genuinely warm, not politely warm — because newborns are photographed undressed and need it. There is space for a pram, somewhere to feed, somewhere to change, and a spotter on every posed newborn shot.
We also shoot on location across Sydney: the Northern Beaches, the Inner West, the Sutherland Shire, the Hills, Ryde, Hornsby, Eastwood and the North Shore. If your family works better outdoors, say so on the enquiry and we will plan for it.

- One family at a time, no overlapping bookings
Credentials
Judged by photographers, hung by families.
Awards matter to us for one reason: print competition is judged on the print, at size, under lights, by people who are looking for reasons to mark you down. It is the same standard we apply to what goes on your wall.
T3 Portraits is award-winning, with Master accreditations from WPPI and NZIPP. What that means for you is simple: the print is the thing being judged, so the print is the thing we build for.
